Molinella Ocarina Group (Mog) consists of young musicians from Bologna. They all are multi-instrumentalist musicians and since 2013 have been carrying on in the tradition of ocarina, typical instrument of the Emilia territory. Master Emiliano Bernagozzi, internationally renowned flautist, plays with the Group and is the artistic Director of the Group, doing all the arrangements and adaptations of the group’s numbers for the ocarina.
In a few years, Mog has put together several tens of concerts, both at national and international level. It has already done four tours in Far East. After the first experience in South Chorea in 2014, it landed in Taiwan (July 2016) and Japan (July 2016) and then replicated in South Chorea (September 2016). In 2015 Mog won the first prize in the “Popular Music” section at the International Contest of chamber music Gioacchino Rossini in Pesaro and, most of all, won the first global prize Rossini International in the same competition. No popular/folk Italian music group was able to win a first prize in an International Contest of chamber music before. In the same year, Mog gained the first prize for popular music at the Valtidone International Contest (Piacenza). In November 2016, within the “Coop for Music of Milan/Cremona” International Contest of chamber music, Mog was pointed out for the peculiar proposal and in Spring 2017 won the first global prize in the Folk and Popular Music section of the “Alberghini” Competition of the Unione Reno-Galliera (Bologna).
Thanks to its commitment in spreading the ocarina tradition and the popular music, in 2016 Mog got the call for the Internationalization of Music by “Bologna-Città della Musica Unesco” for touring Japan and Taiwan. At the same time, in 2017 Mog has been the first global winner in the same call for proposal of concerts and teaching projects and this will bring Mog to Polonia and China.
Molinella Ocarina Group has just recorded – November 2017 – the second cd, entitled “Il Vento”, which follows the 2014 debut album, “Note di terracotta”.
