"Noise in the Water" by Marco Martinelli

Theatre

In a singular evening of timely international theatre underscored by new music by one of Portland's most exciting composers, Boom Arts brings attention to one of the most pressing international humanitarian issues of our time.
Noise in the Waters is Italian theatre collective Teatro delle Albe’s homage to the many African migrants who search for a better future by making a treacherous journey across the Mediterranean.
Bobby Bermea will perform the piece, about an Italian admiral stationed on a remote Volcanic island in the Mediterranean, in English translation and with music composed especially for this event by Ryan Anthony Francis.

A pre-show lecture on the Mediterranean refugee crisis, past and present, will be held by Jamie Surface, doctoral candidate in the Public Affairs and Policy Program at Portland State University, whose research focuses on refugee and migrant affairs in the European Union.
