Barulho D'Água (Noise in the water)

Theatre

"Rumore di acque" (Noise in the Water), painful and pensive monologue on the refugees dead and missed in the Mediterranean Sea, written by Marco Martinelli in 2010 and translated in French, German, English, Romanian, Spanish and Portuguese, keeps on travelling around the world in different staging.
In Brazil, Nova de Teatro theatre company has produced its own version. Unlike the original text –narrated by a solitary General responsible for refugee reception policy in European capital cities–, here the narration is by five refugees who try to cross the Mediterranean, so giving life to those testimonies once interviewed by Martinelli in the island of Lampedusa.
All characters are interpreted by one actor, Alexandre Rodrigues.
