BOLOGNA ILLUSTRATORS EXHIBITION 2016

Exhibitions

A showcase for the latest trends in illustration and talent spotting, the Illustrators Exhibition is held during the Bologna Children’s Book Fair since 1967.
For the 2016 Exhibition, 3191 entries were submitted by illustrators from 61 countries (a total of 15955 plates), a record number of participants in the Fair’s history. The works have been selected by a prestigious international jury, this year composed by illustrators Sergio Ruzzier (an Italian living in New York) and Taro Miura (Japan), publishers Francine Bouchet of La joie de lire (Switzerland) and Klaus Humann of German publishing house Aladin Verlag, and Nathan Fox illustrator and director of the Visual Narrative course at the New York School of Visual Arts.
To be selected for the Exhibition is a great chance of visibility for the illustrators: all the artists’ works are published in the Illustrators Annual, published in Italian and English by Corraini Edizioni and distributed to international specialist bookshops; in Japanese by JBBY - Japanese Board on Books for Young People; in the United States by Chronicle Books; in China by Beijing Dandelion Children’s Book House.
After the Fair, the Exhibition is on tour around the world for two years. Other opportunities are offered through awards, scholarships and projects.
