Exhibition “Pellegrino Artusi and the Italian unity in the kitchen” and conference "A taste of Italy on Screen"

Emilia-Romagna Region Promotional Events

Lecture in English by the President of the International Society of Humor Studies, prof. Delia Chiaro (University of Bologna Alma mater studiorum), on the occasion of the First Week of Italian Cuisine in the World: “A taste of Italy on Screen”.
It is far from a commonplace to say that "Italians do not eat to live but that they live to eat instead". And this is reflected on screen. According to Fellini “Life is a combination of magic and pasta.”
On the same occasion, opening of the exhibition “Pellegrino Artusi and the Italian unity in the kitchen”.
Pellegrino Artusi is considered father of Italian cookery and popularizer of Italian language. His book “Science in the kitchen and the Art of Eating Well” brought into Italian homes an example of fluid and correct language, giving a contribution to the creation of a current used Italian. Often part of the emigrants’ suitcases, this book still remains an important reference for Italians abroad.
The exhibition illustrates Pellegrino Artusi’s life and work and the genesis of his renowned “practical manual”.
