Towards the species is a dance that retraces the appearance of figures as they spring to mind, that movement can reproduce by embodying them. Any form that can be thought is taken up, forms that are retained in psychic memory but can equally be realised in figures of which one cannot be aware, because they stem from a deep kind of genetic memory, that concerns living beings, and that only physicality, with its own specific memory, can propose. Between one figure and the next there is a passage, in which a transmutation comes about that can be defined as a “passing through”. If one thinks about all of the intervals that separate one position from the next, by passing through a transition, one comes to understand that the rest is an essential element of the rhythmic structure of movement. One can thus attempt to inhabit this time of passage, between one gesture and the next, to live the duration of movement fully, not with an intermittent presence. The degree of vital intensity appears, intact, throughout the entire duration of the dance, even risking arrhythmia, and with a sense of suspension that is actually a highly tense vibration.
Towards the species is a dance whose models lie in the metrics of archaic Greek poetry, and, from a figurative point of view, in the rhythm of the movements made by horses.
