The artist from Modena had been one of the most important figure of international Avant-garde
from 09/06/2017 to 08/10/2017 hour 21.00
This is the first exhibition that provides a comprehensive overview of linkages between Futurism and Polish Avant-garde. It presents the works by Enrico Prampolini (Modena 1894-Rome 1956), the author of L’atmosfera scenica futurista (1924) Manifesto, one of the most recognizable representatives of Italian futurism, theatre reformer and an initiator of a series of theatre exhibitions – that he produced in Czechia, France, and Italy against the backdrop of staging experiments of Polish constructivist groups: “Blok”, “Praesens,” and the circles of “Zwrotnica” journal.
The exhibition presents artistic explorations of Enrico Prampolini placing them side by side with set pieces made by Polish artists, and includes the reconstruction of the model of Magnetic Theatre, which has been prepared especially for this occasion. It extensively explores the usually marginalized subject of links between Italian futurism and Avant-garde movements in Central Europe shown in a new perspective, which highlights multilayer and ambiguous history of European Avant-garde.
The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Polish avant-garde. Curator: Przemyslaw Strozek.
