On the occasion of the
Budapest Design Week, Open Design Italia returns to Budapest with a new exhibition proposing four creatives chosen from the participants of the six editions of the event. The selected works reveal a close relationship between the designer and the enterprise, in which the creative and the manufacturing processes meet to develop a product with local traits and a global perspective.
Above all, the event aims at revealing the
convergence of thoughts and intents, which involves the
designer and the
company, pervading equally the creative and the manufacturing processes. Thanks to this converging process – complex but able to bring about results that are greater than the sum of the two parts – small series design can show the hallmarks of a specific regional production to the audience.
The main narrators of the revelation are also bound to converge: the mind, behind the creative process, and the hand, without which the idea would be stuck on paper.
Designers, partner companies and projects:
Riccardo d’Oria and Lanificio Leo
Dodelamp_A twelve-face polyhedron made of hardwood and textile. Depending on how you place it, it can serve as a table lamp, a floor- or ceiling projector. Artisanal elegance that combines analogical and digital techniques.
Fabio Dodesini and Deltacalor
AP/UP_An innovative heated towel rack, which turns into a surprising bathrobe hanger by bending some of the pipes. Undisputable usefulness of an extremely simple idea, for bathrooms that are increasingly small and ever so packed.
NEARCH and Ossicolor
Avec Moi_A modular aluminium wardrobe animated by two types of light: accent lighting for the clothes, and ring lighting to increase the depth.
Roberto Virdis and Pietro Fois
Wool & Wood_Comfortable and versatile wooden seat, inspired by the shapes and the fascination of Sardinian handicraft. The weaving material is the same as the one used for the production of the famous Sardinian rugs.
