Festivals

One of the most famous events in Mexico
Debut of the show Abrazos at the "Feira estatal de León", one of the biggest fairs in South America In the cast, two members of Manicomics Theater, the historic company of clown and contemporary circus of Piacenza.
The fair in León, in the Guanajuato region, boasts 143 years of life and with its proposals of culture, entertainment, gastronomy, craftsmanship, and international shows is an event known as the "best Mexican family fair", attended by 5 million visitors every year. This year fair (January 11-February 5) hosts, beside other international attractions, the show by the Compagnia Finzi Pasca Abrazos (Embraces) in which two members of Manicomics Theater of Piacenza are involved.
Rolando Tarquini, actor and clown, founder and creator of Manicomics, has also been collaborating with the Swiss company for almost a decade. He is one of the key-players in the show: since January 5, in fact, he has been in León as the protagonist of a short film shot in the city's landmarks and inspired by its traditions. The short opens the show Abrazos, which takes place at the Domo della Feira, a space of up to 4,000 seats. The Compagnia Finzi Pasca, based in Lugano -hosted at Feira for the first time-, is internationally known for its theatrical and contemporary circus creations with different actors and audiences: from two actors to large groups, from small audiences to large numbers of Olympic inaugurations (Turin and Sochi). Daniele Finzi Pasca, founder and creator of the company, has also directed and staged shows such as Corteo and Luzia (Cirque du Soleil) and is at home in Piacenza, both for his participation in the Festival Lultimaprovincia and for having wrote and directed Brutta Canaglia la Solitudine, a creation co-produced with Manicomics Teatro in 2000.
Abrazos also involves Allegra Spernanzoni of Manicomics Teatro as stage manager of the event and assistant director of the creator Finzi Pasca. Working in close contact with the Swiss playwright, Spernanzoni has supported the creation of the staging, that, on its last phase, took place in the Mexican territory from 5 to 10 January last.
The show, which goes on for about 1 hour, is staged 3 times a day throughout January and will end on February 5th. About 150,000 people are expected to attend the 74 total performances.
