Little Asmodeus lives underneath, in the bowels of the earth where sunlight never reaches. Asmodeus is good, too good to live peacefully in
the world of Fire and Sighs.
He really cannot manage to be evil and does not even care to be, and this is a big problem for his family. To sort this out, Asmodeus has to face a real test, he is sent to
the world of light and Earth.
Asmodeus starts his
odd voyage on the earth unknowing man and his habits and totally unaware of what is about to happen to him. From that moment on Asmodeus ends up in a mess of encounters of all sorts: a cow, a priest, a school teacher, a flock of sheep, a group of children, a baker.
Little Asmodeus is a tale about the good and the evil by
Ulf Stark, one of the best-known contemporary writers of children books. This is how with subtle
irony but also through delicate
poetry, with moments of healthy humor as well as sharp complexity and always avoiding obvious pruderies, the author tells us of another Mephistopheles who’s in pursuit of his Faust.
