Paolo Virzì, comedy and more

Among the most important names in the current Italian film scene, Paolo Virzì can be considered the main continuator of the great tradition of Italian comedy.
On the other hand, the teachings received from Furio Scarpelli -one of the main scriptwriters of that splendid season- attending the classrooms of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, have left their mark. To this should be added the autobiographical component (Virzì is a native of Livorno, a Tuscan city with a shrewd spirit) that has periodically marked its production.
Even if the reinterpretation of comedy, with its mixture of tones - from comedy to drama - and the introduction of autobiographical motifs, remains the leitmotif of his cinema, from time to time Virzì also loves to abandon the main road for more direct immersions in a hard and problematic present.
The exhibition, besides documenting his journey, offers a visual testimony of his movement on the set - it is not uncommon to see him on the camera - and the attention and care he devotes to his actors. Another of his recognized peculiarities.

The photo exhibit is the result of the work by some of the best still photographers of the last generations. It is composed of images from the "CliCiak" competition fund of the Centro Cinema Città di Cesena and is curated by the director, Antonio Maraldi, who will attend the Festival.
