Food in Federico Fellini’s drawings

Emilia-Romagna Region Promotional Events

Federico Fellini made thousands of drawings, drawing was an almost maniac compulsion for him, he started doing it at the age of 15 and never stopped.
The exhibition is composed by 19 drawings made by the Maestro in different moments of his career, almost all splattered at the table –made on paper and on cloth napkins- and coming mostly from his “Libro dei sogni” (the Book of Dreams), a dreamlike journal kept for about thirty years, which is at present exhibited in the Rimini City Museum.
And we can say that food is at the root of all Fellini’s work, just like childhood and dreaming, an extraordinary world that the exhibition fully reflects.

Two screenings accompany the exhibit:
Long Journey, a very peculiar animated short film based on the Maestro’s drawings realized by Andrej Khrzhanovskij in 1997, with screenplay by Tonino Guerra
the documentary by Giuseppe Ricci Food in the cinema by Fellini, a patchwork of scenes taken from Fellini’s films related to food.
.

from 21/11/2019 to 15/02/2020
The exhibition is part of the official programme of the Italian National Committee for the Celebration of the Centenary of Fellini's birth - ‘Fellini 100’.
It is promoted by Emilia-Romagna Region in co-operation with the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles which proposes it on the occasion of the 4th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World and of the forthcoming Celebration in 2020.
