Quijote! is a tribute to fantasy and imagination, dedicated to all those who have lived and live to assert their truths. The old man who goes mad from reading and his evil squire were created to be easy targets forcruel jokes. But, if one delves deeper, setting aside the Castilian humour, one is able to interpret the story in a very different satirical way: a generous and lovable soul, full of a spirit of adventure and capable of wonder, in a vulgar and anti-romantic world ends up as a madman.
In the play, a positive identification of the spectator with Don Quijote is created, producing booth amusement and reflection. Cervantes' ingenious invention, which throught amusement, paradoxically provoked by cruelty, confronts a society with itself (Quijote is an implacable deforming mirror), finds in the show a scenic translation that does not limit itself to reproducing the text, but seeks to dig into it to find the Quijote that lies within each of us, artists and spectators.
